Evelyn María Anderson
is a muralist and poet with a BA in Arts Practice from Stanford University. She works at the intersection of the arts and social justice at Stanford’s Institute for Diversity in the Arts. Raised in a bicultural home, her mother’s family is from Honduras, while her father grew up in Illinois. By following intergenerational stories of familial love, abuse, and intimacy, her poly-vocal chapbook, Sweetfires, seeks to elucidate the broader geopolitical relationship between Central America and the United States. Evelyn is working to better honor the Lenca understanding that the spirits of children live in the rivers and that it is our duty to protect them.
